Description
A growing defense firm in the West Loop is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join our team. The Associate Attorney will manage workers' compensation defense cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, settling claims, and advocating for clients in court and arbitration. This individual will work with managing partners to build client relationships and provide excellent results for our clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Independently manage your caseload involving workers' compensation matters, working cases from beginning to end
- Work closely with other attorneys on legal projects
- Represent clients in a wide range of litigation claims
- Regularly handle court appearances, conduct depositions and trials
- Communicate with clients and provide status reports
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation-related laws and regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
- Additional licenses in Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, and/or Indiana are a plus
- At least one year of experience with workers' compensation matters
License/Certifications:
- Illinois State Bar License (Required)
- Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, and/or Indiana State Bar License (Preferred)
